AREA-51 Review
I have been reviewing the
new Area 51cc motor from JC Engines for the last week. I have to say I
am pleasantly surprised with the quality and performance of this new 51cc
motor.
As another imported motor from China I was hesitant of the quality, performance
and service. Prior to this motor I was testing the 3MM TOC 53cc motor
from Cermark and honestly aside from how smooth it ran I was not impressed
with it much. It has adequate power however just didn’t deliver
the punch one should expect from a 53cc motor not to mention it was not
the greatest starting motor. I think for a smaller size 50cc plane it
would be a good motor however it just didn’t cut it on our 88"
Extreme Flight YAK.
First off there are allot of great motors to choose from in the 50cc size arena. I am not partial any one motor and I believe it comes down to your choice, budget and preference in choosing the right motor for your next project.
Ok so let’s get on to the review.
Specifications:
Bore/Stroke: 44mm/35mm Displacement: 51cc Max Power: 52.hp Weight: 3.3lbs Ignition: 4.8V Max RPM: 9000 Idle RPM: 370 Carburator: Walbro Pump Carb Bearings: Ball Bearing rops: 22x8, 22x10, 23x8, 23x10 Vess 23-A (Static thrust 30lb) Oil Breakin: Lawnboy ashless or a good quality petrol based oil Mix: Breakin 30:1 - 50:1 or 100:1 Amsoil after breakin after one gal.
This first thing I noticed was the packaging it was package nicely in a sturdy gloss black box. All the parts were packed nice and secure inside and wow the billet aluminum crank case was quite impressive, nice to not see another cast aluminum case.
Everything you’d expect instructions,
ignition, muffler and standoffs. Yes it comes with standoffs and muffler
as well as an extra set of prop screws depending on thickness of prop
you are using.
I didn’t end up using the stock muffler I was able to use my Bisson
Pitts muffler from the 3MM TOC motor. The mounting holes were very close
and all it required was to enlarge to holes slightly to line up.
